On a whim, I plugged the Mini Omega booster into the Lune R-1 and really like how the different fin sets look together. Both are still nude, so no idea on whether the two decors will clash. Maybe come up with an Omegaish look for the Lune's fins?

For the benefit of everyone else, here's the RockSim file for that combo. It is a nice change, and the flight sim numbers are not bad, either. Thanks, Bill!

Length: 26.775"
Diameter: 1.04" (ST-10)
Fin Span: 4.61"
Weight: 1.93 oz

B6-0/A8-5.......649'......Dv 10 FPS......requires 35" (use a 48" rod)
B6-0/B6-6.......937'......Dv 12 FPS......requires 36" (use a 48" rod)
C6-0/A8-5......1081'......Dv 20 FPS......requires 33" (use a 48" rod)
C6-0/B6-6......1333'......Dv 10 FPS......requires 33" (use a 48" rod)
B6-0/C6-7......1476'......Dv 25 FPS......requires 40" (use a 48" rod)
C6-0/C6-7......1796'......Dv 23 FPS......requires 36" (use a 48" rod)

I kept the 1/8" launch lug on the sustainer, but it would probably be better if this were changed to a 3/16" lug, and use a 3/16" rod for the additional length needed.

I'm going to suggest the name "Lune R-2" to keep the design in "the family"...

Share & Enjoy!

That is a good looking combo. Funny - I just got a Lune R-1 kit, which I was going to build alongside the New Way Lune R-4 (a square interpretation of the Semroc design). This adds another option.....

Thanks for the workup. I suppose with an A8-0 in the booster, it would need an even longer rod?

...then take the booster from their 2x4 kit and put trapezoidal fins on it for a Lune R-8?

Wondering if this will prompt Semroc to produce a Lune R-1 "booster kit" ???? :)
