Welcome the nuubie
Have not built a kit in many years.
Last one I built broke my heart.
Used an old engine; rear engine bulkhead(terminology?) adhesive failed. Engine burned out rear and turned a beautiful bird; SR-71 BlackBird(?) into a crispy critter.
Am quite advanced (?) in skill level of A-D engine-size models. I painstakingly assembled then painted to perfection using air brush to paint entire model, then fogged all leading edges. Way Kool!
Talked to Dr. Jones, local astronomer 'tother day and he wants to mentor a youngster starting with launch of a "ready to fly"and I said I wanted in on it too. Rambled through closet, like, an hour ago, to discover unopened Estes/A.R.V. Condor #2075.
Should I build, advertise for sell, unopened, ideas; comments?

Build, but as lightly as possible. It's a fun rocket if it's done right. (I didn't do it right the first time, but I have another ready to start.) It's a pretty common kit.
And welcome. ;)

Jim,

Here's a heads-up on our most-often-visited websites. You'll be spending far too many hours at each of these...

JimZ Plans: http://www.dars.org/jimz/rp00.htm
Ye Olde Rocket Shoppe: http://www.rocketshoppe.com/
Ninfinger Files: http://www.ninfinger.org/~sven/rockets/rockets.html
SEMROC Astronautics: http://www.semroc.com/Store/Scripts/default.asp
Balsa Machining Service: http://www.balsamachining.com/
BARCLONE Rocketry: http://barclone.rocketshoppe.com/

There are a number of other cool rocketry websites which have links on many of these sites. This list is just the tip of the iceberg...

BTW, you can find those Condor plans at JimZ website: http://www.dars.org/jimz/est0807.htm

Building clones of our favorite 'oldies' is what this forum is about, as well as carrying on the traditions of building models the way models should be built.

Welcome to our asylum, Jim, and don't be afraid to ask 'old questions'. :D

Addendum: Don't be afraid of the question, Jim, just be very afraid of the answers...

You mentioned in your message you were talking about the #2075 ARV Condor, and being the old fart I am, I thought you were talking about the 26-year-old "Super Mini-Brute" #807. Not a total loss, we have your plans available as well at Ye Olde Rocket Plans: http://www.oldrocketplans.com/estes/est2075/est2075.htm

Not me. I'm a genius, eh? I bought the ARV Condor because the name was close and it had gliders. Then I went and painted it red and white like the original. I planned to do the decals the same way also, but it met a bad end at B6-4 Field when the two halves didn't separate. The whole ball of fat wax landed in a head on the hard-packed dirt of the infield. Bits and pieces of it are now strewn all over my shop. It's too fat to fix, but I can't bring myself to throw it out.

I kept my SR-71 Blackbird for years so that, when I needed a good cry, I could _DEFINITELY_ have a good excuse by simply looking at the debris.

Well, I did warn ya! :p

You're also an hour ahead of me, so it was midnight your time when the post appeared... :o

While the plan links are neat and important, I really think Sven's site is the overall winner, what with all of the catalog scans he has. His site is a real "Peabody & Sherman Way-Back Machine" for those of us who were around to experience them when they were new...
