The launch is a go at Bong this weekend, we should be on the runway, the range will open starting at around 10:00 am.

Just a heads up, depending on field and weather conditions we may restrict the launching of big skidmarks.

See you there!

Mark Hackler
WOOSH NAR section 558 President

The infamous "Gouda Wooshka" will be there as well, if anyone is so inclined.

It would probably be a good idea to bring along a can of bug spray with DEET tomorrow as well, the ticks are out early.

Actually DEET doesnt do anything for ticks. Use permanone. You spray you clothes before you wear them and let it dry. It lasts several washings. Ticks wont touch the stuff it is Very effective. It can be found at most sporting goods stores.

Maybe "Deep Woods Off" has that in it as well? Says it repels ticks, I assumed it was the DEET.
You coming out today Bill?

I will be out later. I have the sons pinewood derby this morning.

I worked at scj where they make OFF. It is deet based.

Not A Gouda Wooshka, but THE Gouda wooshka! The Gouda Wooshka began it's life as a humble LOC IV kit donated by Barry Lynch at NSL 2009, hosted by WOOSH Rocketry. Many LOC IV's were donated for a "fast-build" competition among attending clubs. The goal was just that- who could build a L1 ready rocket the fastest. The WOOSH Rocketry entry, dubbed "Gouda Wooshka", was built in 7min. 57sec. It's first flight was less than successful, a tangled chute being the problem if my memory serves correct. Since then, it has become an iconic (and infamous) part of the WOOSH organization. It has been flown at local, regional, and national events all over the country, on an astonishing array of different commercial and research motors. There have been many repairs in it's lifetime, it's no looker. But it keeps on keepin' on! I wonder if any of the other entries are still flying?

Here's onboard video of my Cert flight.

I had two cameras, one down, one to the side. The side camera video wasn't worth watching. :)

Close, actually a Loc Fantom 438. Right on with the build time: Built, prepped for flight, and through the RSO in 7:57!

Is that a zipper up top? I don't remember that being there?

Almost made it to Bong on Saturday....made it to Greenfield, then got "stuck" at the sister-in-law's house. Oh well!

I thought it was the IV with the fins clipped from one of the repair jobs, Fantom makes more sense. It is a zipper, but it has been glassed on the inside. I think that happened at LDRS, but I'm not sure. Too bad you couldn't make it Saturday, turned out to be a great day for flying - not such a great day for landing...
