I was able to find the time to give a talk about model rocketry to students at the Pleasant Prairie Elementary school "Try new things" day last year. They want me back again on May 9th from 9:30 till 10:30 am. I have sent them a link to print and build Art Applewhites' flying saucers and plan to conduct a launch. Is anyone else interested in helping?

Rockets + Kids = a HOOT!

I always have a great time at Kid-launches -- where kids launch rockets, not where I launch kids in rockets - you can only get away with that twice...

I put out a call for help on FB and got some help from a buddy and his son here in town.
The launch for the kids went well except for the downpour that creamed us on the last rack of rockets.
We had plenty of saucers though so the kids threw away their soggy saucers and went home with fresh ones.
I made certain to thank the parent who made them for the kids but I'd have rather had them make them themselves. The teacher in charge didn't think 5th graders could handle it. Yeah, it's the dumbing down of hobbies.
Thanks to the stockpile of A10 -PT's the club still owns each kids had one flight and we still have a bunch of motors left.
I showed them a short video once we got back to the classroom and answered questions.
It was a nice bunch of kids this year. Are they getting younger or am I getting older?

Glad to hear it went well. To answer your question, YES!
