I know there was a thread regarding this cone just recently, here or on the old rockets list, but wasn't able to find the reference - it was a Jayhawk thread, iirc.
Something about sending one to Mike at Moldin Oldies, so if anyone sent hi one - good :-)

Anyways, same cone is used on the Areis SST kit, which I'd like to add to my sci-fi fleet.

this appears to be basically a NC-50Y with canards.. can anyone verify if that's close ?

and, if so - canard tracing and info on where to place same - seems this could be easily replicated with a BNC-50Y and balsa canards.

any info appreciated.

Al,

The nose cone is indeed a -50Y with canards. I would say just modify a BNC-50Y yourself.

<Measured directly from my original>
The canards are a regular trapezoid, 0.375" span(height), 0.25" wide at the tip and roughly 0.625" wide at the base (root chord). They're 1.75" up from the cone/body tube interface. Thickness is 1/16". You'll need to sand the curve of the cone into the root edge of the canards, as their tips are parallel with the body centerline.

Hope this helps.
