I just happened to be thinking of this last week. March 16th, to be exact.

When I bring my daughter to her tutor, I have to drive to the top of Packachog Hill in Auburn, MA.

A historic site for rocketeers to be sure.

I just finished reading "Rocket Man".

An autobiography of Goddard.

He was a strange duck!

IIRC, Goddard was much like contemporaries of his day, such as the Wrights. Very protective of his ideas. His wife fought the bulk of his court battles after his death and came off somewhat victorious.

I have always had something of a sympathetic feeling for his predicaments, as I suffer from chronic asthma as did he. His move to New Mexico was prompted as much by that fact as it was his need for "a large open field to fly his rockets". Also, being at the mercy of someone else's generosity was no fun.
