This was my load of Der Red Max variants back in 2013. Back then I had 11, with a couple of others planned.

Since then I've done a couple more downscales, a few Mini Maxes and a couple of Stickershock birds. Today the weather cooperated and I was able to drag them outside with minimal damage for a family pic.

After I finished with the individual portraits, it occurred to me that I'd had a Mini in yellow at some point, so I found it and retook the picture indoors. I wasn't carrying them outside again.

The Miniscule Max is a BT-5 downscale with Sandman Decals. Only one flight on it so far, on a 1/4A, but I surprised myself by finding my first ever Midget-sized rocket.

My most recent project is the Miniscule Der Big Red Max that hasn't quite made it out of the first coat stage. Hopefully another Sandman decal in its future.

The Retro Rocketry Der Blue Max is an old kit from a company that never got past the prototype stage. I did two test builds for them, a Red and Blue Max, and there were a bunch of others planned. (I think one was a BT-20 downscale of the Estes Omega and possibly the Blue Bird Zero.)

http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l529/rmortis/Max%20Obsession%20019_zpszbgjt3gh.jpg (http://s1122.photobucket.com/user/rmortis/media/Max%20Obsession%20019_zpszbgjt3gh.jpg.html)

Only two flights over the years because I'd really hate to lose it. I think it was damaged on the first flight when we were still flying at the VOA because it has a white launch lug. :D

Another Retro Rocketry bird, this one has flown seven times over the years.

This was the original test kit, but for some reason Photobucket decided to flip them.

This is what's left of my Maxi Mini Max that was beheaded by a C11-7 CATO last spring. Blowed up real good! I actually caught a piece of the cardboard confetti that had the face on it. Things were looking pretty decent before the big bang.

Estes Mini Max #2. #1 is decorating the trees up at B6-4 Field, another first flight casualty.

This one has flown, but I can't find it in my flight logs. Well, I think it's flown...... Then again, that hook looks awfully shiny. :o

Three flights for the Mini Gold Max, which surprises me. I remember the first because the shotgun ejection charge broke the elastic shock cord. This was when I realized how cheap and easy the Mini projects were, especially with the Hobby Lobby coupon.

Hemi Max was named not because of the 18mm power in the Mini Max bod, but because the paint was Hemi Orange.

One flight on an A8-3. Cool, but I think it needs to go on a C6-5 to live up to the name.

One flight so far for the Mini Lime Max. This was built and flown around the same time as the Moon Glo. I needed to use up the green.

One flight for the Mini Lemon Max, that being on my birthday a couple of years back.

This one and the hot pink one stand out the best, IMO.

I just finished the Mini Big Red Max a week ago, so no flights on this one yet. Not as cool as I hoped it would be, but maybe it will grow on me.

The Excelsior Der Goony Max #2. The first one caught a low branch on a tree and was gone by the time I got back from picking up the pole. 24mm powered. Five flights, including two NARAMS.

This is the battered and beaten Der Red Max clone that I painstakingly assembled from scratch. The nose cone came from a Mean Machine kit that I cannibalized for the Max and several Mach 10's. The decals were an early inkjet experiment with the black decals set over plastic shelf paper that I cut to size. Took me FOREVER!. If you look closely you can see the shrinkage as the shelf paper has aged.

Fourteen flights, but it seems like more. Looks like it, too. :D

I've managed six flights on the Estes Der Red Max v.2 in the short time I've had it. It's lived a much less hazardous life than my clone.

http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l529/rmortis/Max%20Obsession%20008_zpsf0n6fddf.jpg (http://s1122.photobucket.com/user/rmortis/media/Max%20Obsession%20008_zpsf0n6fddf.jpg.html)

I took it to NARAM 55 with all of my other Maxes, hoping to have a Max day which would finish with the first flight of my Mega Max. Never happened. I overdid it on range duty, and by the time I was done, the winds picked up.

I picked up two Stickershock decal sets during a BOGO sale a couple of years ago. This was the first one finished. Dark Max has flown once on an E9-4.

I like the looks of the paint, but it chips easily. Still a cool bird, even if my nephew isn't a Star Wars fan anymore. ;)

The other Stickershock set is the Orange Max. It's a 2x18mm cluster with one flight.

My 24mm powered Der Big Red Max. Two E9 flights, the most recent at NARAM 55. Reminds me of the old Renegade.

The Excelsior Der Fat Max came about when a fellow club member was selling an old Fat Boy kit. I bought the kit and the decals set and they arrived on the same day. Two flights, the second twice as high as the first because the first was horizontal due to windcocking.

Der Grosser Vati is my second Big Daddy, but this one is taller. :o Two E9 flights, both at NARAMS.

Only one flight thus far on my Mega Max. This is a surprisingly low lever flyer. I could probably fly it at B6-4 Field, but the proximity to US 27 scares me. If I get the opportunity, this is going to be my L1 bird. It's built like a tank.

Most impressive ability to stick to a theme I've seen. Bravo, I would have Max'd out after a couple ...

Here is my one and only Max so far, the Double Mini Max. I double dare you to do one like this, maybe doubled in size? :)

I've got a set of Sandman's decals for a regular Max, I really ought to build another.

I took it to the club launch last Sunday. I also took WAY too many rockets. Flew some old motors to see if I should keep the rest of their packs. Having them stored in a cool dry basement for 25 years is the secret to using old motors. :)

Once my grandkids showed up, we flew the their Sizzlers several times each. (Now I fully understand the appeal of the Estes RTF kits.). It got a little windy, and I still had not flown my Estes V-2 (BT-80) with micro buttons off my MakerBeam rail. When it calmed, I flew it, and had a perfect flight and recovery. Then it was near closing time so I packed it in.

I've decided I better fly the Double Mini Max first thing at the next club launch. I"m anxious to see how well it flies. I did sim it in Open Rocket and it was fine.

Geez, I haven't even had a sniff of BP since November. As for the RTF stuff, I pick them up occasionally when they're cheap. They make for decent flying and if they get snagged I'm not too emotionally involved. Funny how they never seem to get snagged. With those big fins on the DMM I can't imagine it would be anything but stable. Pretty small and light, so it would get off the rod with a pretty good kick.
