My daughter Haley and I made it out Saturday for a little flying. Lots of fun plus one mishap (and no stinkeye :) ):

Oh, is that what the underline was for? :o

I've got exactly six braincells between my ears, and four of them are not on speaking terms right now...:p

Doug, ouch is right. What booster motors were these?

Doug, ouch is right. What booster motors were these?Craig,

The Midget and Freebird were using A10-0T's flown under the NAR OOP program. I've had great results with these motors, so I consider this to be an isolated incident. I'm not sure I can even blame the booster motor. I concluded the booster fizzled since it didn't separate, but it coulda been something else instead.

That said, I figure my (BP) staging success rate to be about equal to my single stage rate. Things like this wreck are pretty rare for me. But not rare enough to take the thrill out of it :)

Doug,

Thanks for posting the flight report.

I especially liked seeing the Gauchito, since I just did a 4 engine version for a NAR meet.

Mine, however, did not fly so successfully. I foolishly used the club's launcher without checking to see if it could handle a quad cluster first. 2 of the four lit, and a third started partway up the rod.

Only 1 of the four ignitors burned through the nichrome.

Thanks again for the report,

Gus

Hey guys, since several of you mentioned it, when converting the Estes Gauchito to a four
engine 13 mm powered model, did it need any additional noseweight to maintain stability?
Your answer(s) will be very helpful as I just bought a Gauchito the other day with the purpose of using for the Future Scale/Science Fiction event for Day 2 of the Moon, Mars and
Beyond Regional at JSC this coming June 16th....
