Hello! I'm new to this forum but thought I'd jump right in with some launch pictures.

My grandfather sent me an Estes US Patriot kit back around the time of the Gulf War (the kit was new at the time, so whenever that was). I built it but never launched it... until a couple weeks ago.

Had two great launches that day. Unfortunatley I lost it the very next week at a different site. Time to go pick up another one and get to building it.

Good pictures, sorry to hear of the loss, though. That is a nice field to fly in. Is it a community field, or a schoolyard?

It's a schoolyard/comunity field. The school's playground is directly behind me as these pictures were taken. Off to the right a bit is a nice sized parking lot and off to the left is more field, then a baseball field, and then the comunity club house. It's about a 5 minute walk from my house.
I had the rocket addiction as a kid and now it's worse than ever. Ha!

Geez I just don't know how some people are so good at getting multiple liftoff pictures. I'm lucky if I can even capture the smoke trail!

My camera has a "burst mode" setting. Hold the shutter button down and it just keeps snapping pics one after the other. I hold the button on the camera to get it clickin' and then with my other hand I hit the button on the launch controller. Rapid fire photography!
It doesn't always work though. I have my fair share of pictures of nothing but smoke around the pad. ;)

What kind of camera are you using. I may be in the market for a new one myself.

I have a Sony Cybershot digital camera and it has a couple of different burst mode settings.
When I use the full burst I get a portfolio of 16 photos all grouped together. If I cut one out and enlarge it the resolution is terrible. The other burst mode only has three shots and thats almost as bad as just the one. It's like trying to catch a housefly with my eyes closed.

I'm using a Nikon SLR (D40) camera. I just got it at the begining of July.

Welcome MonsterRocket. Sorry to hear you lost such a beautiful bird.

If I am lucky I can get 3 shots of the rocket taking off using burst mode on my Canon EOS 20D. That's an expensive digital camera and I think it can take up to sixteen 8 megapixel photos in burst mode. The photos I usually take with the rockets are lower density photos as I always seem to have problems with enough light when I launch. Maybe this weekend I can get out and get some good high density photos.

Three photos of an Estes Phoenix lifting off on a D12-3.
Three photos of my scratchbuilt "Tonka" lifting off on a pair of C6-3 engines. As you can see the rocket is out of the picture by the third shot. The first shot of this sequence clearly shows both engine exhausts. I named the rocket after one of my cats who died two years ago. The rocket is being painted to loosely match his markings, white withh black spots (kind of like a Gateway computer box).
