Last year I sold off a few bagged antique Estes kits I had laying around ... but one I did not was a partially built original Interceptor. Though I've toyed with the idea of fixing it up and finishing it many times, it just ain't happening.

So, I'm wondering if anyone wants the nose cone, wing pods and engine fairing? I'll be happy to email a photo of the rocket to anyone who is interested.

I see that Moldin Oldies sells repro parts for $30 ... what is this original stuff worth?

As of a week or two ago, their worth went down, especially considering you can buy two new Interceptor kits for the price it would take to clone the old one. But I'm not a collector, so my point of view may not mean much.

What foose is saying in case you weren't aware is that Estes recently re-issued the Interceptor as a kit. They're now widely available again.

Estes has reissued the kit? That's awesome! I may have to get one ...

So I poked around online a bit and found the reissue Interceptor priced around $17, but Tower Hobbies has another kit for twice the price as well ... are there 2 reissue kits? Both say available mid Sept.

Try AC Supply (http://www.acsupplyco.com/estes/estes_rockets.htm) or Discount Rocketry (www.discountrocketry.com)

The other Interceptor you saw is a 24mm upscale of the original. ;)

Tower Hobbies doesn't have them available yet. Use the links that foose posted.

The more expensive version you saw is a 24mm version using D/E motors. That one isn't out yet. The "original" 18mm version is the one you can now get.

Here is this forum's thread with the Interceptor E, with are pictures of the painted "proto", if you will, done for all the artwork and advertising shots.
