I have a question for you, many of the older estes kits have within the decal sheet the #3.
The Starbird #1954, #1973, KC-4, #1920 just to name a few. Any history on this?

That's interesting, never really noticed it. Possibly a venders number, who produced it.
I will try to find out and post it here.

Also on earlier kits such as the Goblin, and Astron Bandit ( which is sitting right here next to my desk ) .
plus '33' on the Rogue, if that counts, lol .

My son asked me about that last night. We went through all the decals on JimZ and YORS looking for different markings to customize a rocket he's building. I had no answer for him. He then asked why the Mars Lander had a 4 instead of the usual 3. Once again, I had no answer.

It's obvious, isn't it? I mean, 3 is half of six.
I can't believe anyone hasn't mentioned that yet.

Nah, I'd have pointed out that a 3 is really an 8 in disguise.
