Hey folks- Mods, if this doesnt belong, LMK.

I have a couple of boxes of old OOP stuff, including tons of building supplies (mostly tubes) and engines.

I have seen I cant ebay engines, nor do I know if they are any good. I have at least 150 different engines, that were from the 70-80s, and lots of ignitor packs too.

Are these worth selling? What about the shipping of engines?

thanx,
matt

No problem with posting this here, it's where it belongs. ;)

Why not put together a list of what you have available for sale? This is the place to sell OOP kits, parts and engines. :D

As for shipping engines, you'll hear people making arguments from both sides. Personally, I ship them via parcel post with nary a problem. Many other people here do the same thing.

I dont have a list, nor am I sure what I am selling. I just got done taking pics of everything. I need to sell it off to make some cash for my Reefkeeping hobby. :)
I would rather unload it here, then all of it on ebay...

here is a link to my photobucket album where my pics are, I have a fe other things not shown,. I will put a list together tomorrow...

Scott: I'm not going to argue with you about shipping the engines, but I wil say this.

If you want to ship EStes model rocket motors in the mail, do it the right wat as was told to me recntly by Estes mangament.

I want to STRESS that this only applies to Estes model rocket motors. Aerotech and Quest and have both told me specifically within the past few days that individuals may not ship their engines via the USPS, only there delaers can. It also does not apply to motors that are OOP from manufacturers that do not no longer exist.

On the other hand estes told me that individuals can ship their motors from one individual to another if the l;abeling, marking and packagaing is done correctly to USPS requirements.

with that said I am attaching here what Estes send to me.

The label obviously goes on the outside of the fiberboard box. You should use a 1.4G box.

The bottom is the shipping papers which must be in tripicate inside an attached shipping paper plastic slip attached to the outside of the box.

See appendiz A1 in Publication for additional shipping container requirements

Uh, yeah. I would catalog what you have when it comes to the kits and the engines. I know there are a few here that would throw you some offers

The kits could defintiely go on eBay, individualy or as lots... The tubes and stuff also... The engines can not and you will get some "feedback" as to the legality of mailing them but as long as you put ground only on the package there should not be an issue from what I have gathered from others. Perhaps I missed it but where abouts are you if someone were interested in "pick-up"? (Just saw you are in Philly, heh answered that one.)

You have a very nice assortment that should bring a fair amount of money your way. I know I would be interested in the kits, probably not the engines...

I would definitely be interested in the old kits and tubes. I look forward to seeing a full list and what kind of prices you are asking.

Thanks for the opportunity!

That 1/2A6-4 would really make my day. I can't wait to see the list of all you have. I hope you will break up the lot.

... as was told to me recently by Estes mangament.

Terry,

Thanks for posting this. Seems like Estes should have a fairly good idea of what's required to mail the product they produce.

As for others, the recent shipment I received with Medalist motors from Apogee came in just the type of box Estes mentioned (with nothing inside except the motors and some packing paper) and the exact label shown on the outside of the box.

Thanx for the info everyone. I am not really sure about shipping these myself. I am going to talk with my post office a bit..

As for all the stuff, I have been selling little bits of it for a long time. I pretty much know what its worth on ebay. Not to be rude, but you guys know im a bit out of my element here, so Im going to refrain from pricing/commiting any sales until I go through everything and do a little research. I will keep all PMs though...

I am gonna list everything here asap..

Im not looking for lowball offers, as I can always hold on to these. (i have gotten a couple :( )

All of the rockets will most likely be ebay'd. I have one Apogee which may not be sold regardless. The last one I had I sold for 140.
The other rockets are also good sellers on ebay.
if your local we can probably work out a deal so I dont have to ship on the engines and stuff.

from what I know now-

the regular sized engine packs $2-3ea
The loose engines (all) $25
body tubes--- I dont want to try and ship a ton of these. I have what you see in the pic, mostly the 5/8"-1" size but a few big ones too. make me an offer.

The OOP parachutes are tough to find a price on right now... Im gonna keep looking.

The OOP A10-02 engines in the 1960's packaging im also trying to find more info on too.

If Im way off scale let me know, if your interested in buying something post here in the thread.

Thanx...

All I can say about this is that if you don't set prices yourself, of course potential buyers are going to offer as little as they think might be reasonable.

As stated before, I want the 1/2A6-4. I would also like some of those tubes. Also PM me regarding what you want for these items. I live in Florida but I may be traveling up the I-95 corridor to NY sometime in the next few weeks if mailing is an issue.

Are the engines all spoken for?

minibowmatt
05-29-2008, 06:26 PM
The only engines I have left are 15, sealed in original cellophane, diamond pack (late 60's-early 70's) A10-OT engines. These are 4 engines per box. They are OOP, and rare to find (as you all know). I would like $4.00 per pack.

As for the tubes, I havent listed them. I was hoping one of you guys want them. send me a PM with a DECENT offer on them. There are over 75-85 I would guess, some big (2") all around 18" long.

I also have 5 or so CLEAR body tubes. these are the old Estes style, made from a vinyl like plastic. You can see the spiral marks on them, just like the cardboard style tubes... I have never seen these before, however, my Astron Streak has a shorter version of this as its main body tube.
I still have most of the parachutes too.

That is spiral wound Mylar. BT-10.

They also used spiral wound Mylar on the Scrambler's BT-65 sized payload section for awhile.
