Nick gave me a New Year's present - scripts to find errors and missing data in the databases. Sooooo, I need the manufacturer's recommendations for the following kits/plans. If you only know the motor mount size, I'll settle for that. If you know any of these to be vaporware, please also let me know.

-> OOP - Centuri Engineering Co. - Screaming Eagle
-> OOP - Semroc Astronautics Corporation - Cyber III
-> Plans - Launch Pad (The) - AIM-9L Sidewinder
-> Plans - Mach-1 Industries - Hawaiian Sling
-> Roachwerks Custom Turnings - Little Joe II (1:38.5)
-> American Alliance Rocketry - F17 Phantom
-> Contest Craft (by Rob Edmonds) - CR/G
-> DARS (club) - Gargas Paradox - NSL 2006 Commemorative Kit
-> OOP - Model Minutes - Angeline
-> Phoenix Rocketry - Corporal
-> Plans - Estes Industries - Cosmik Debris
-> Red Arrow Hobbies - Aerospace Challenge
-> Red Arrow Hobbies - Beta

I know these HPR kits don't have specific recommendations, but I can't even nail down the MMT size!

-> Performance Rocketry - AAMRAM 1/2 Scale (3.5)
-> Performance Rocketry - AAMRAM Full Scale (7)
-> Performance Rocketry - Arcas Full Scale (4.5)
-> Performance Rocketry - Astrobee D Full Scale (6)
-> Performance Rocketry - Avenger 4
-> Performance Rocketry - Concept 150
-> Performance Rocketry - Concept 38
-> Performance Rocketry - Concept 54
-> Performance Rocketry - Concept 75
-> Performance Rocketry - Concept 98
-> Performance Rocketry - HV Arcas Full Scale (4.5)
-> Performance Rocketry - Honest John (9)
-> Performance Rocketry - Honest John 1/4 Scale (5.5)
-> Performance Rocketry - ISQY Tomahawk 2/3 Scale (6)
-> Performance Rocketry - Little John 1/2 Scale (6)
-> Performance Rocketry - Nike Apache 1/2 Scale (8.25)
-> Performance Rocketry - Nike Apache 1/3 Scale (5.5)
-> Performance Rocketry - Nike Smoke 1/2 Scale (8.25)
-> Performance Rocketry - Nike Smoke 1/3 Scale (5.5)
-> Performance Rocketry - Nike Smoke 3/4 Scale (11.5)
-> Performance Rocketry - Nike Smoke Full Scale (16)
-> Performance Rocketry - Patriot 1/2 Scale (7.5)
-> Performance Rocketry - Pershing 1A (7.5)
-> Performance Rocketry - V2 1/5 Scale (11.5)

And finally, was the Rocket Pad ASROC a cluster or a single motor rocket? (I have motor entries for both, one of which is an error).

TIA,

Dick

Are you looking for what Centuri recommended back in the old days? That would be A8-3, B4-6, B6-6, B14-5, C6-7. When it came out in 1973, they also recommended the A5-4.

It flies fine on Quest A6-4's and Estes/Quest B4-4's, B6-4's also. The modern Estes A8-3 is a bit short and the A8-5 is a bit long.

Yes, I'm interested in what the original manufacturer said...even where none of the motors exist :eek: Thanks!

I just looked it up and added the A5-4, just in case you didn't see my edit.

The concept kits are all min diameter.

Concept 38 = 38mm motors
Concept 54 = 54mm motors

..... and so on.

I did the reviews on the Centuri Screaming Eagle and looked it up: A5-4, A8-3, B4-6, B14-5, C6-7. OOPs

I also did the Semroc Cyber III: C6-0/B6-0. C6-0/A8-5, B6-6, C6-7 (1st/2nd/3rd)
I got these from Carl at Semroc. It was originally a DOM type of kit and had some recommeded motors that are long OOP (Semroc motors) I can't give you the Semroc originals until TRF comes back up. They're posted on a thread there.

I hope this helps.

On the Roachwerks Custom turnings Little Joe II

There is a central 24mm motor mount and it will fly on anything from a D12-3 to an E30- 4 or any 24mm reload.

There are also 6 18mm motor mounts surrounding the central 24mm mount and you can leave them blocked with the provided centering ring or add up to 6 C6-5's

This has only been done once that i know of and the altitude was around 1,100' or 1,200'

Your milage may vary.

Happy New Year!

The plans for the Semroc Cyber III did not list specific motor recommendations, other than to advise using A booster modules and an A6-5 in the sustainer for the first flight. Otherwise, it would have taken Semroc's 270 series propulsion modules as follows:

for single-stage flights: 1/2A6-2, A6-3 (first flight), B5-2, B5-4, C5-4

for 2-stage and 3-stage flights:

(2nd stage booster and 1st stage booster, if applicable): A6-0 (first flight), B5-0, C5-0, C4-0;
(sustainer): A6-5 (first flight), B5-6, C5-6
These are all taken from the motor chart on pp. 38-39 of the May, 1970 Astronautic Modeler, which was Semroc's catalog. This was the same publication that contained the plans for the Cyber III. I do not think that Semroc's 1/2A6-0 booster module would have had enough thrust to lift a 3-stage stack, so I doubt that it would have been a recommended motor. The motor mounts for the Cyber III were all designed to take Semroc's standard length (70mm) propulsion modules, so I did not include their "shorty" (45mm) modules in the list above.
