I make nose cones.

Some of you know me some of you don't.

This is to introduce myself.

I can work with balsa, basswood, oak, poplar, foam/fiberglass.

No job too small or to big...OK some are just plain too big to fit any of my lathe.

My biggest has been a 40" Goblin cone (BNC-55AO upscale), a scale HARM missle (11.5") and a 16" Little Joe II my smallest are micromaxx.

Email me for a custom quote.

gagnello@yahoo.com

I need "EXACT" dimensions of your tube if it is "non-standard"

I do one or two of a kind custom...hand made...no production work (please don't ask me to make 25 of anything  )

Below are some samples

Starting at the top left; BT-60 Bomarc ram jet cones, Lockheed gliding concept capsule, X-20 DynaSoar,

BT-80 Goblin upscale, Estes Drop Nose (Nimbus)

BT-70 Crayon, Vostok Capsule

Little Joe II (built with 8 seperate turnings!)

and on the bottom is the Soyuz capsule shroud interstage coupler, and escape tower

What about 24 of something? :D

Oh...a wise guy

I make everything by hand with hand tools and a caliper.

I don't have a duplicator or CNC machine. If I am forced to make 24 they won't be "exactly" the same.

Very nice looking stuff :-)

I'd be interested in the BT80 sized 'droop nose' cone myself ( upscale Nova Starship ) .

Rough idea on pricing for that one ?

It's be just as easy to build some of the 'gotta haves' on my list in mid-power upscales....

* goes off wondering.. hmm.. more projects,Scotty ........ *

A BT-80 Drop Nose would be "ENORMOUS".

I have made a BT-70 version and my finished model was HUGE!

Here is My Starship Nova I launched at NARAM. It's about 45" long and really hard to deal with (almost put my eye out with it.)

This was a launch shot I turned 90 degrees. Notice only 2 of the Estes E9's lit.

The chute opened about 5' from the ground.

Phred has the BT-70 sized decals in stock.

Hope the chute at 5' up saved it ? would be sad to see that one crash or damaged.

I saw a 4" upscale of this one once, a while back ( LDRS 8-9 ? ) , very nice :-)

BT80 version would fit right in with my ( "almost done' ,lol ) BT 80 sixed Solar Sailer 2,and Mini tri Pak set.

And for some of you that don't know Sandman, here is some more of his custom work

The smaller ones are basswood versions of the Centuri PNC-132 made to fit the heavy walled Semroc Large series 125 tubing (1.25" x 1.34"), not the thinner walled series 13 tubing (1.30" x 1.34"). I purchased these to build a few EnerJet Nike-Ram rockets and SEL helped me with suggestions for those.

The larger one (come on, you already know its for an EnerJet sounding rocket) fits the Semroc Large series 225 tubing and Sandman turned it from some very hard balsa stock.

Both types are exactly what I asked for and a perfect fit for the Semroc tubes I specified and came with the eyehooks.

These are in my "post-hurricane" build queue for the fall rocket building frenzy .....

Gordon "Sandman" Agnello's .sig reads:

"I'm a sandman. I've never killed anyone. I terminate runners when their time is up."

'Cause I understand
You've been running from the man
That goes by the name of the Sandman
He flies the sky
Like an eagle in the eye
Of a hurricane that's abandoned

Actually my wife coined the name "Sandman" for me.

Because I always come into the house from my shop covered with sawdust. :D

Not only do i make nose cones, my other hobby is wooden boat building.

I also got the DVD of "Logan's Run" for Christmas last year and I loved it!

Logan was a "sandman". I especially the scenes with a 17 year old Farrah Fawcett!

Here's some pics of some of the boats I've built.

Although Jenny Agutter as Jessica was especially saliva-inducing back in 1976, as well. :D ;)

Only two of the E9's lit? How many in the cluster (total), and what kind of igniters did you use? If you want to be on the safe side on your valuable clustered models, use the QuickBurst Hot Shot igniters for reliability...they're just about the same as using flashbulb
ignition. Tomorrow, I'll be at the Gulf Coast Regional meet at JSC (NASA) in Clear Lake, TX
and will be entering (and flying) my Estes Maxi-Brute STAR WARS X-Wing for the Future
Scale/Science Fiction event. It will be powered by a D12-5 and four A10-PT's. Wish me
luck!

Cool! Try to get an ignition shot of that.

There were only 3 total. If you look closely you can see the one igniter dangling

No real excuse for it but Chris Taylor wanted a better pic of it on the pad so I turned it and forgot to re-check the igniters. The one that didn't ignite got twisted and shorted the wires.

It landed in tall grass and it was just fine.

A little dirty 'cause it landed in the soot left from the fire but the weeds still cushened the fall.

Cool! Try to get an ignition shot of that.

The Maxi-Brute STAR WARS X-Wing was entered AND flown at JSC yesterday as advertised;
using the QuickBurst Hot Shot igniters, all five motors (D12-5/ four A10-PT's) ignited right
on cue and the big X-Wing did get off the pad alright. My main concern just prior to launch
was the pavement area we were launching from, and the rather lack of crosswind at the time
of launch. Turns out the five second delay of the D12 was a bit too long (the altitude wasn't
what I was expecting), and the twin 18" parachutes didn't have the chance to fully deploy to
help carry the model into the grassy area. The result was a rather hard touchdown on the
pavement, with much of the right side of both wings and components breaking into numerous pieces. The flight was nevertheless ruled qualified, and dispite the flight damage,
still won out first place in the combined Division C/Team category in stiff competition.

A number of those present took plenty of pics that should be posted soon; when they are,
I'll provide the link(s). In the meantime, I've already started the repair process of this
giant X-Wing; in fact, the repairs are already more than 75% complete! When completed
(the repairs), most won't even be able to tell this model suffered such severe damage!

I just saw that Warren Benson, NHRC Section President and GCRM contest director, is uploading his pics
that includes a number of fantastic in-flight shots of the X-Wing and others:
