Fliskits Triskelion bash

I've been in the winter doldrums, hadn't touched a project in about two months. Last week I began a four week workshop with 4th and 5th graders at my son's school. We (8 kids and I)are building the Fliskits Triskelion and the first session was great; it really reinvigorated me. Since I bought a couple of extra rockets, I thought I would try something creative. I was thinking of a few Gerry Anderson designs. Below is the standard Triskelion and my bash.

Any plans? Patterns? This would be a good addition to the BARCLONE line-up...

What is the 'weight' of that cardstock, BTW? Is it thicker than #110?

It's actually .010 styrene sheet, but I am sure #110 cardstock would work fine.
I kind of did this on the fly, but I could probably retrace my steps and come up with patterns. It's fairly simple; most of the fin parts are just cut down Triskelion fins.

BTW, the Triskelion seems to me a very good basis for a Colonial Viper. :rolleyes:

Talking about new project... How about a BT-5 sized Interceptor?

I've got fin patterns done. Haven't completed canopy of nosecone yet. I'm leaning toward carved balsa rather than folded cardstock. Have sanded down wing-tip pods from 1/4" dowel.

Got turned onto this from seeing the Microclassics Interceptor @ last year's NARAM.

If there's any interest, I'll try posting what I've got.

Y'know, Drew, it wasn't until I saw the Triskeliceptor "nekkid" that I realized the Gerry Anderson "UFO Interceptor" influence (http://us.st11.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.com/I/sputniktoys_1904_4255089). The cockpit and tail assembly gave it away (OK, OK, I'm slow on the uptake). :p

Way to go, Drew! This beauty is definitely on my "build list" now! :)

BTW,

Um, the launch lug . . . I glued it inside the right side engine vent pieces, in the lower v where the lower vent meets the cockpit side.

Doggone it, I *knew* there was another Anderson design influence lurking in there somewhere! :)

Drew, many thanks for the writeup instructions and fin plans, and the "nekkid" pix certainly help with part placement and orientation.

One last request, if you can find the time...Is it possible you could post 6 views of the completed modroc? Top/Bottom/Left/Right/Front/Back? This would help tremendously with my puzzling through decal placement and/or painting details, too.

Again, kudos on a slick bash! (I showed it to my 12-year-old tonight, who said, "when do we get started, Dad?") :D

Drew, those are perfect!

Now, it's just a matter of getting the kits from Jim and the decals from Phred, and we're off to the races! (I'm buying two sets --- one for me, one for my son --- and we're gonna build 'em together. I told him he can "reinterpret" the painting/decals however he likes (I'm sticking to your "stock" design), but he has to build the same bird aerodynamically. I figure it'll give him some good experience with styrene add-ons and "unusual" fin alignments, etc.).
