All,

after re-discovering the hobby and finding this place about a year ago,
(see this thread http://forums.rocketshoppe.com/showthread.php?t=181),
I decided it would be a neat idea to take a quick picture of everything I've built in the past four seasons.

Twenty-five's not a bad number, eh? :D

At that rate, in the next 1 1/2 years you'll have more model rockets than I have in my
fleet! If I had the time, I'd beat you with tons of vintage kits begging for assembly.

I'm glad we've been able to help you along the way, Eric. You have some great looking sci-fi/fantasy rockets there!

Great Photo Echovictor, and a very nice collection.

A couple of question if you have the time. What is the rocket in the back row that is the third from the right, all white with very wide wings??
And also in the front row, third from the left that is either a maroon or purple/red color? Any in the photo of you own design I wonder??

PS Sci-fi fantasy RULES!! :D

Thanks for your time, JP

Sci-fi fantasy RULES!! :DSecond row, far right.

*That's* looking like some Shrox influence! ;) :D :cool:

Good job, Eric!

I stay up late for double OT, and once again, frakkin' Edmonton! :mad:

Now, to answer those questions;

The third from the right in the back row is a primed but yet unpainted Sunward Sukhoi Su-47.

Front row, third from left is a standard Estes Nemesis painted with RustOleum American Accents' "Claret Wine" color (with some $0.96 Wally-World can silver trimming).

Any in the photo of my own design? Actually 11.5 are. I count my USS Atlantis "ProtoWarp" mod in the back row far left as the 0.5.

The second row, far right is a little experiment I named the USS Spherion. I love the Shrox ping-pong ball trick, but I had to try one using 'em somewhere other than the body.

I know I have quite the painting backlog. Unfortunately, my new house is on a hill, and the amount of windless days is minimal.

Very nice collection - did you build the starfighter scorpion completely from scratch? It looks longer than the original. Have you flown any of these? I'd love to see some of them at a woosh launch.

Which Shrox design is that, next to the FlisKits Farscape? Is this the "phantom" modroc that never got kitted?

Okay. Nice group shot. Now we need some close-up shots for details.
And EMRR reviews. ;)

For once, I agree with Bill, :eek: Don't make us beg for the close up shots. Especially those of your own design. :rolleyes:

That's the Shrox Solarkron, which was only available in a limited run (so far) of only 50 kits. :(

I can't remember who else here on the forum got one. Bill? Scott H.? :confused:

If you've been paying attention over the past year, I haven't been hiding these. :p
OK, back row first...

1. The Shrox Solarkron (back row, fourth from left)

The Solarkron was offered as a kit? :eek: :eek: :eek:

I never knew that happened! I actually talked to Shrox a bit after I built mine, since I didn't want him being upset for using his design. Based on our conversations, I never got the impression that he ever kitted it.

BTW, mine is technically a downscale, as it's BT-50 based. I documented the build here;

http://forums.rocketshoppe.com/showthread.php?t=308

2. The Sunward Galactic Wave (back row, fifth from left)

Paul, this is what you thought was a Canaroc Scorpion. Since the Sunward design was obviously inspired by Canaroc, I decided to try and make my Galactic Wave look as close to a Scorpion as possible. So essentially, it's an upscale. Good discussion here (mine is on page three);

http://forums.rocketshoppe.com/showthread.php?t=378

3. USS Atlantis "ProtoWarp" (back row, far left)

This is almost a direct clone of the Estes version, however, the nose cone is different and I modified the "engine pods" to be a little more modern-looking. Detailed here;

http://forums.rocketshoppe.com/showthread.php?t=441

4. Estes Renegade (back row, second from left)

This is slightly modified to make the booster stage lighter so that it doesn't smack itself to pieces when tumbling. Description here;

http://forums.rocketshoppe.com/showthread.php?t=288

5. Semroc Laser-X

This one is a straight out of the bag build. I loved putting together this kit.

http://forums.rocketshoppe.com/showthread.php?t=338

6. EVR Reneceptor (back row, far right)

This is the prototype I built based on the challenge from Chris Timm for building something cool using a current kit without having to cut or modify too much. Stay tuned for more details one this one....

Well, that should give you guys some conversation starters. I'll update more links as I can.

Not I. I never even heard of it.Okay, it turns out that there are several threads over on The Rocketry Forum (TRF). And the "Scott" I remember chiming in to buy an original Shrox Solarkron was Scott *Branche* (Rokitflite)! Here's some of what I found:

EchoVictor's "semi-scale" Shrox Solarkron:

http://www.rocketryforum.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=19361&highlight=Solarkron

The *price* for the original was $50. I don't know how many Shrox finally kitted:

EV's Shrox-inspired "Babylon 5" design (has this been released to Ye Olde Rocket Plans?):

And finally, Rokitflite (Scott Branche)'s USS Odyssey (highly recommended by Bill E and JRThro):

Jay, thanks for the legwork! I thought I'd kept close enough tabs on Shrox to have seen all his designs...that's why the Solarkron caught me off guard. I, too, thought he had designed but never kitted it (hence my "phantom modroc" comment) :) The TRF thread seems to taper off without anyone mentioning that they GOT ONE, hence my guess that it never made it to kitsville...although the SHX-Rammstein *did* get out there, as I've seen several build threads about it (and missed getting one, durn it!).

Here's hoping that things have settled down a bit in his life...I'm really missing my Shrox fix. I often think of his designs as modern-day versions of "Centuri Superkits"....and we need people like him (and RockitFlite, my USS Odyssey is amazing!) to keep us "exotics" builders busy. :)

Jay, thanks for the legwork! (resonant voice) "It's what I *do,* Dean." :eek: :D ;) And working in TV news makes it tough to have restful sleep some nights, because my brain starts grinding away on some weird topic... even in my dreams! :mad:

P.S. Great to meet you and chat with you briefly at NARCON! :cool:

I enjoyed meeting you (and all the other denizens lurking here) at NARCON, as well. I won't say that Scott Hansen twisted my arm to attend, but the doctor said (the other day, when he cut the sling off) that I'll regain almost full use of it...at least enough to hold the CA bottle and the sandpaper. :D

Forgive my density, but what's Scott B's handle here? (oh, Gawd, there I go, revealing my age again by using 70's CB lingo!). Or, Scott, if you're listening...do you know if the Solarkron ever made it to kit status?
