idle thought, what about putting a big treble hook on a 100lb test line and go fishing at the lake :).

The tricky part would be getting to the open water. There is a rather wide band of cat tails, and the ground is extremely soft. A machete and plywood flats might get you close...

hmm, knowing murphy & finagle...any rockets are probably in the cattails.

You would have to check with the rangers first. Being a State Park and a nature preserve, there might be a "fishing license" requirement, and there might be a restriction on hacking down the cat-tails with a machete. ;-)

*DISCLAIMER* I would not recommend or condone a cat tail massacre, the machete reference was used to give an idea of the terrain. *DISCLAIMER*

it has been mentioned that, it would be a good idea to clear any 'fishing' with rangers before attempting to retrieve any rockets this way.

I assumed that would have been assumed, everything must get cleared by the park authority.

Considering the rockets usually float for a good time after finding their way into the lake
you could certainly hook them with a floating lure and wind them in.
The Popeil pocket fisherman comes to mind.
I'm positive the rangers would allow this.
As long as you stay out of the water you don't need a PFD.
Once you decide to go wading the PFD must be on.
We do have a pair of waders as well as PFD's in the trailer for such operations.
