trimming B/Gs with rubber band power

I am working on a few B/Gs lately.I have been trimming them by hand tossing.
I cannot get them high enough to really tell how well the adjustments are.
IIRC you can use a rubber band to catapult them higher.
How do you attach the rubber band without adding extra weight???

I'd stick a pin in on the bottom of the boom at the front at a backward angle.

Or just build a skeg on the bottom of the nose and take some noseweight off.
