New Design - 009700 - Estes Pro Series II Leviathan

I haven't seen any files posted at BARCLONE for the new Estes Pro Series II kits so I built two files this past weekend for RockSim and OpenRocket users.

Technical Specifications from the Estes website:

Pro Series II

Length: 41.5 in. (105.4 cm)
Diameter: 3 in. (7.6 cm)
Estimated Weight: 17.5 oz. (496.1 g)

Laser cut Plywood Fins, Screw on Motor Retainer, 24 in. (61 cm) Nylon Parachute Recovery

Recommended Engines: F26-6FJ, F50-6T, G40-7W, G80-7T

Projected Altitude: 2000 ft. (457 m)

Mass I show is about 15.4 oz. with weighing the majority of the components and entering mass overrides to ignore the program mass calculations. After assembly, filler & paint one could very well add a couple of oz. of weight and be right at the 17.5 oz. Estes estimation.

The performance varies a little between the programs using the same motors and conditions with OpenRocket returning slightly more conservative numbers.

I was hoping to start the build this past weekend but didn't get much past the motor mount. It's a cool kit and I'm looking forward to getting it finished so I can post some pics.

:)
