SAlvage I
I discovered one of my all time favorite movies the other day on "YOU TUBE." If you've never seen it, go yo You Tube and do a search for Salvage I. Almost every comment was the same," I wish they would show this again on TV or release on DVD." Only PIA is its in 10 parts of 8 minutes @ a time. Enjoy! ;)

Wasn't that the low-budget production with the HIGHLY UN-believable Andy Griffith at the Helm of the ship (and I use that term VERY loosely) ?

How about building a flying model?
I remember that someone at TRF had built a model of Salvage 1... and after some searching in the archive I found the link here.

Hey,
Thanks for the link. I spent a very enjoyable evening watching the moon salvage episode. It was just as stupid and implausible as The Astronaut Farmer but without the annoying self seriousness. And ghrocketman, running a moon salvage operation and building your own spaceship has got to be orders of magnitude easier and safer than being Barney Fife's boss. Paper model of the Salvage 1 rocket "Vulture" can be found here. |

Hey, thanks for the link, I must have missed that one somehow. |

I thought it was more than just a model. I thought it was a prototype of a possible kit from Estes (had the series not been a flop.) Someone rescued it while dumpster diving. |

You mean when the Atlas fell over and started landsharking all over the countryside was implausible? The old Convair techs were probably laughing themselves silly over that one. :chuckle: Greg |

That is correct. I believe it was discussed here a few years back in case someone wants to use the Search function. ;-) I think Bob Kaplow knows about it. |
I read through that thread with interest only to find that it ended without the promised flight pictures. Does anyone know if the ship made it off the pad?
Don't leave us hanging! Feyd |
The photos are missing, but here's an archive of the old Geocities page about the Estes Salvage 1 rocket:
