Can you identify this vacuformed part?

Does anyone recognize this part from a kit? Maybe a CMR kit?? I have a handful of these. I think they came from some stuff I got from Andy Bennett ten or fifteen years ago.
What it looks like to me is some sort of Nike fin, with a spar(?) that goes into the middle of the two fin halves, and sticks into a hole that would be formed by the nipple on the longer curved part, which fits over an 18mm motor. It covers something less than 1/4th of the circumference of a motor. |
Estes Pro Jayhawk?

Roy,
Didn't CMR have some kits that made use of vacuformed fins that you had to glue together? |

Definitely not. Good guess, though! |

That's what it looks like to me. possibly from a rapier or a break-away. http://www.ninfinger.org/rockets/ca...72/72cmr28.html lower right hand corner. |

Yes, but is this one of those? From the description in the catalog, it says three pieces where this looks like four. And these fins are 1.5" x 1.5"... doesn't fit any of the sizes listed unless he was being very liberal with the description. Maybe if someone had the instructions to one of those fin sets and could post it here. |
A canard fin for a Jayhawk possibly?

Not shaped the same. |
That is a CMR fin, Howard originally used vacuumed form fins for his kits until he switched to plywood. I worked for Howard for a few years and he still have some of these in his stock and let me tale some home

Do you know what the other part is, though? I've seen and built a few CMR kits with vac-fins but they just had the fin halves and the center spar. Someone on Facebook said that it was some assembly jig for the fin, but I can't really see how helpful it would be. |
It was used as support for the spar to help make the fin. At one time I had instructions for it's use, but I doubt I can find it now.

He had three sizes, small, medium, and large, they were used in all his kits depending on what size was required. The Hyper was two stage and had two sets of different size fins, for upper and lower stages. |
CMR parts
Howard made quality parts, especially for the time frame with the recourses available. I still have a few egg capsules and ,(I think) , a set of these fins on a .903 body tube.
