How to scale fin patterns when I print

Wanting to build a few classics from scratch using the instructions from JimZ website. I printed a few at work. Looking at the plans and the scale of the fins, it looks like the fins are smaller than I expected.
For example Aston Mark, Kit K-2. I printed on a typical 8.5X11 piece of paper, using “fit picture to frame” print option. The fin pattern on page one looks super small. I then printed again without selecting the “fit picture to frame” print options. I needed to select 8.5X14 paper to get it to fit. Yes, the fins printed larger, but it still seems smaller that I would expect.
I know this must be a DA question that has been answered, but before I start to cut balsa I would like to know how other folks scale their fins when the print plans from JimZ.

Thanks!

for pdf files the print options, actual size or no scaling usually work for me. however when possible I like to grab the 'rocksim/open rocket' design file and use open rocket to print the fin templates(which include a scale so you can see if the templates are printing the correct size). HTH

*edit*
it would appear the fin root edge measures 2.25" for the 'oop astron mark II'.

Are you printing from the PDF or from the TIFF file? The fin tracing/shock cord mount page should only be 3" x 5" at 300 dpi. If you are using the PDF, the pages sizes vary and may be causing you these scale problems. I have extracted the fin tracing page from the PDF so you can try printing it by itself.

If you are printing in Acrobat, make sure to choose "Actual size," choose "Auto Portrait/Landscape" and UNCHECK "Choose paper source by PDF page size."

Hope this helps.
