Quest for Quest

This gets brought up from time to time but I haven't seen anything lately (if it has been discussed, could someone please be kind enough to point me in the right direction). What's going on at Quest Aerospace? I listened to an interview on The Rocket Show wherein there was talk of new products, etc. It seemed (as it always does) that their release was eminent. That was some time ago and I've heard nothing since. Does anyone know anything? Rumors? BTW, I don't frequent this board very often so sorry if I am plowing a planted field.

Thanks.

Seems the purchase of them by Aerotech was their death-knell.

There was a big thread almost a year-and-a-half ago. Read it and see that nothing much has changed. That should fill you in on what you may have missed. There were a few other smaller threads too, but none of them offered substantially different news and commentary. The title of the thread was "Is Quest 'ill'?" I think you can still order some parts, so it's not quite dead yet.

A correction.

AeroTech and Quest MERGED.

AeroTech did not purchase Quest.

It was a matter of survival for both companies.

While AeroTech continues to release new motors and (Hopefully soon) new kits Quest has been stymied by the lack of a motor supplier.

The cost of the Chinese made motors went up in price so much that there was no value to buying them any more.

There has been much work on in-house made motors but technical/production/certification issues have held up these motors.

Quest is not dead but it may be awhile before things get back to the way they were 5-6 years ago. :(

Aerotech/Quest should set up a totally-owned but liability separate corporation to produce BP SU motors.
Have ZERO insurance at that said motor manufacturer. If an incident happens, declare bankruptcy for that stand-alone company and WALK AWAY from it 'scot free'...unethical ? Yep....SO WHAT ?
RINSE and REPEAT (incorporate another brand, and do it again).
Keeps the motors CHEAP !

Put your money where your mouth is. You set up a company this way. Show us all how your great idea works.

Yep sure looks that way...

Aerotech itself isn't all that healthy, is it?? Since its founder took off to play with lasers and left his kid in charge... something like that? I don't fly HPR so it's mostly curiosity on my part...

Later! OL J R :)

Apparently, Aerotech showed two new kits at Narcon this year. First new ones since I can remember. Maybe there's hope. I am wondering how the industry is doing as a whole. Estes is reissuing kits which is nice but dropping their catalog. It may be nothing more than a sign of the times. With the rise of online shopping I can't see a justification for a print piece that no one ever sees. I am surprised that Tower Hobbies still sends so much paper in the mail each month.

AT has been busy this past couple of years. AT brought out numerous new motors, increased production and shipping (no more month from order to shipping) working on the first new AT kits in a long time,
New Quest motors, Batch sent to NAR for testing, then the case supplyer backed out. Found a new suplier where the caes are actually (i was told) a little better and slightly cheaper so they can be competitive with Estes price, But they have to get re tested by NAR and that is where it sets.

Thanks for the update! Much appreciated! Any rumored Quest kit releases? Or, any restocked of kits that have gone out of stock? Thanks!
