It says it is Skill Level 1... IMHO, I think this is at least a 3 due to the glider and orbital's fins. Carl, another great kit!

Good catch. Certainly not the skill 4 it used to be now that the fins are laser cut, but I'd say at least 2 or 3.

This is great news! I was just about to go hunting down parts to gather to build one..Already had the fin set..I also have the PDRocketry OT...Now, I just need to get motivated to actually build it once I order it! :p

I think this might actually be the first Semroc "retro repro" for which I've built the genuine kit by the original manufacturer. Technically, though, I built the modern reissue from Estes about 7-8 years ago, not the original edition. Still, I think this helps me cement my status as an old fart now.

I'm a glutton for punishment as I actually built THREE of the original "Skill level 4" Estes Orbital Transports (not the reissues) that one had to cut all the fins out using patterns, all balsa cones, etc.
Time consuming but not really difficult. I'm glad for the addition of laser cut fins in most modern kits. Cutting out fins for any OT kit is drudgery that's almost as fun as building plastic parachutes.

Eventually I will pick up one of the Semroc kits and already have the PDR kit awaiting build.
I also have the Hawks Hobby Super Orbital Transport awaiting build, which will probaly start late fall/early winter.

Even under the reissue, the fins are cut by hand using patterns. It wasn't until about a week after I painted mine that BMS announced they had laser-cut fin sets available for about $7, and I quickly bought a few sets for future cloning efforts.

This really great news. I built one back in the 70's. Below is a picture of all that is left from that one. I really don't know why that's all I have left  ,,just found it in among things I had left over from that era when I became a BAR last year.

I had ordered a replacement from PD Rocketry last October but we all know what happened with that. :(

Semroc continues to produce really great retro kits and has the best customer service you will find anywhere, now if they would only come out with that "OMEGA" :D
