Custom Landviper
I'm trying to track down the stock number for the old Custom Rockets Landviper that was apparently availible in the mid 90s. I have the scans of the 94 catalog but the text is illegible.
I know that custom is getting ready to re-release the Landviper but they are doing so under a different number. I am looking for the original. Can anybody help? |
oops.
I'd also like to get the number for the Custom TriStar which apparently has gone OOP. At least it no longer appears on their site. |

Thanks! That catalog was the scan I had and could not read. The plans did the trick. I forgot about them! |

As for the Tristar, it hasn't really been discontinued, just reborn in three new decal schemes. :D |

i noticed that. They have different product numbers though. I was looking for the one on the original. I finally found it at Red Arrow Hobbies. I do appreciate the help. |

The Landviper was a fun kit, I have yet to fly mine ( have to fix the upper lanch lug, painted it seperately in pieces, when gluing together, the glue grabbed withthe lug just barely out of line :( .
real soft balssa fins on the one I have, so might not survive many landings.. wait n see. I want to fly it on a trio of the Quest chinese C's - should be fun :) ~ AL |
I don't know a lot about Custom. I have some of their kits and have vague memories of their presence in the LHS in the mid 90s.
I assume the Landviper was once their signature product since the product number is "1" and they are re-releasing it. They seem to be getting more involved after a long period of the "same old same old" |

Cool kits early on, but it started to go bad when I noticed that my Custom Razor had switched to stickers from decals. To me, that means a lack of attention to detail, and it turned out to be a sign of things to come. The lineup got consistently dumbed down, to the point that I didn't even bother to check on the rockets when I visited the LHS. I do like what I've seen of late, even though the new Landviper is a bit different than the old one. I'm not going to bust Estes chops for that, so I'll do Custom the same courtesy. |

That's pretty much the impression I had gotten for the company. As for the LV, I am indexing the new one as a derrivative of the original instead of as a reissue. |
