Aclu
I don't mean to start a political argument here but I was wondering if anyone here is against the ACLU and if so could I have your arguments? I am doing a research paper for gov if anyone was wondering.

ps, I know it's hard but please don't bash any one on this thread for being anti-aclu, thank-you.

The concept is great, but the organization tends to be extremely left leaning. As an example, they'll support gay marriage, but have not supported the explicit constitutional right to keep and bear arms.

ACLU...American Communist Liberties Union?
I agree with what kapton said. A leftist group that's anti-everything decent and good. Can't wait to see what GH has to say. :D |
I support the concept that they are trying to defend. Overall, I think the pluses outweigh the minuses with them, and I'm generally positively disposed toward the organization. But I don't always agree with them, and I haven't supported some of the stands that they have taken. They have defended some truly despicable people over the years.
I tend to be more supportive of Amnesty International. Mark \\. |
Im not against the ACLU, there should be a season for hunting them as well. Hopefully right after firearm deer :)

They pick and choose bits and pieces of the constitution/bill of rights/federal laws/state laws that fit their agenda to defend or prosecute.
They also pick certain parts of the constitution and bill of rights and take them literally, while other parts they choose to "interpret" with their own views. If the founding fathers wanted one part to be interpreted, they wanted it all to be. If they wanted one part to be taken literally, they wanted it all to be taken literally. |
