New SR-71 RC Rocket glider kit from Dynasoar

Called the Habu, this came out of a desire to provide a simple to build kit that provides larger size and lighter wing loading and slower easier to control boost than the old hobbylab kit. Hobbylab kits are getting very pricy and the equipment used in them is pretty dated. Kits come with 3-d printed spikes and upper/lower cone, many steps pre done, includes stickershock cut vinyl decals. Price is 79.99 shipped, 39" long, 21.5" wingspan, 13 oz rtf using 24mm E-6 rc motors. This is not a normally stocked item, due to custom decals/tubes and 3-d parts, so I'm doing them in batches. I've shipped the first 20 kits so far. If interested, contact me and I'll put you on the list for the next batch, when I get 10 names, I'll order parts/decals and then invoice you when they are ready to box and ship. I've got four names already for the next batch.

Frank, your kits keep getting nicer and nicer. The 3D printed parts really put this one over the top. My new favorite, tied with the Orion Starliner.

As always, makes me wish I were into R/C. Instead I will just enjoy looking at the pictures and videos. :)

I watched your YouTube video a couple days ago for either a YF-12 or A-12.
Glide time looked fairly impressive on the E6 compared to some of your other gliders.
Would be really neat if you could air-start a second motor to extend the flight time.

That's funny, if you time most of my videos, given the flight weight of 10.5-13 ounces, they have about a proportional flight time, lighter ones have a 1.5-2 minute dead air flight time and the heavier ones go down to about a minute. The YF-12 is an ounce lighter than the kit due to he way I was able to build it, since it wasn't a kit I didn't need a coupler and with the reduced chines the CG is about 3/4" further back so less nose weight, you get about 10 seconds more glide. Sometimes with heavy wind get more in the heavier gliders, somemtimes less due to having to line up with a runway if I'm at my club, when I land in a field I don't have to sacrifice flight time to land in a particular direction.

Here's the family photo, HABU, A-12 version with modified chines, one off YF-12 with different chine shape and as close to an approximate nose cone I could get that was close, I built that one with a through the tube design instead of splitting the tubes completely since I had to be able to put the cone into the shoulder, the chines are shorter than they should be but I didn't have a choice.

I like the appearance of the YF-12 best.
