Buran Shuttle flights on E-12RC and E-15-PW

I posted this on two other forums but copying here for those that don't go there.

I decided to use up the rest of my E-12RC and E-15PW motors in my Buran shuttle, since it is the only RCRG that I have that is heavy enough to handle the faster burn rates. The Buran is a simplified shuttle shape without back end details to make it easier to make plans and parts and reduce nose weight, but they can always be added if desired. Plans are on my site. 14.5 ounces rtf, 24" wingspan, 39" long. The E-12's are a good motor for this model, the E-15's were pretty fast, and required a good trim setting. Happily there was no flutter at the higher speeds. The model is fat and draggy so the boost and glide are reduced a lot compared to my other models, but still very flyable. The model now has 40+ flights on it since about 2007 or so when I built it.

Big, Fat, and Draggy

Sometimes such models look better that way, especially if they're flying right overhead and not 1500ft downrange dropping like a brick!

Had a BT80 Bomarc, back in '11, at NEFAR actually hover in the wind! Just sat there in the sky for like 30 seconds, like it was RC

Really like those 'in your face' glider flights instead of 'dot in the sky' stuff.....
