The weather here was great last Sunday afternoon, so we headed out to the range. The line up was as follows:
1. R2D2 - First flight on a B6-4. About 40ft altitude. Chute deploy at 5ft AGL and landed in a small shrub. No damage.

2. R2D2- Second flight on a C6-5. Good altitude with some interesting wobble at burnout. Chute at 8ft AGL and lawn darted right into the only flat exposed rock for 100ft in any direction. Now I have to figure out how to fix it.

3. Renegade on E12 power. Great flight but wind shift took it towards the horizon. Finally recovered after an hour long search in waist high grass. It had traveled one quarter mile. I was lucky to get it back. I built it 39 years ago.

4. Maxi Alpha 3 on an E12. Not wanting a repeat of the Renegade search, I adjusted the rod angle and managed to drop it 25ft from the launch pad.

5. X-Ray on a B6-4. Melted another shock cord but was able to retrieve both payload and booster.

Also brought along a solar sailer and a G80 powered Maxi Alpha but didn't fly either since the wind was becoming too unpredictable.

R2D2 is looking very sad.

That's unfortunately his natural post-flight look. :(

I really thought the fins would be the first to break. :D

I would have been using B6-2s and C6-3s in the R2-D2.
