Body Tube Cross Reference

Just received a lot that I bought recently on Ebay and it contains an Estes BT-55V body tube. I was searching here on YORF for a body tube cross reference chart that links tubes to kits and vice versa. Couldn't find it. Can someone help me out?

Thanks, Rich! That's not the one I was looking for, though. I'm sure I've seen one here on YORF. Actually, the one you directed me to has some inconsistencies around the BT-55V so I'm no further ahead than I was before.

BT-55V 16.35" 1.283" 1.325" 0.021"
The one Rich listed is the one I recall.

What are the inconsistencies? Is it the length or the kits listed?
I see now that they have a V listed at 7" from the Vanguard Eagle kit. The classic length is 16.35", which is the K-47 Cherokee-D body tube before being lengthened to a full 18", along with several other K kits.

The totally Tubular and BMS lists are helpful for tube issues.

Thanks guys. I thought there was a list that, if you knew your body tube designation, you could find all the kits that used that tube. Did I dream that?

You can get that from the first link. Search the PDF for the tube and you will find each kit that used it.

You might be thinking if the similar nose cone reference.

Has anyone scanned the original Estes parts catalog?

In an earlier version of the reference, I did have a typo for the length of the BT-55V listed in the entry for the ARCAS, kit K-26/1226. But I found that error, and fixed it in the subsequent release (that change can be found in the Record of Revisions found at the beginning of the document). I don't know of any other BT-55V inconsistencies in the Body Tube Reference List, although that doesn't mean one or two don't still exist. It's a long list!

Unlike some tubes that were characterized incorrectly in Estes' 1974 Parts Catalog (a good example being BT-52), BT-55V is listed there with the correct length of 16.35", as Tbzep noted earlier.

There is indeed the odd entry for the Vanguard Eagle, kit #2193, but as noted in the Appendix to the Reference, Page 64, the inconsistency with this tube designation has been flagged. Here the inconsistency is due to a re-use of the tube designation and not the part number, as has sometimes been the case in the past. But it's clear the BT-55 in the Vanguard Eagle is not the same one used in the ARCAS or the K-47 Cherokee-D.

Apologies for any confusion with the Reference.
