Seeking information about Saturn 1B hold down brackets

Does anyone know where I can get dimensional information for the hold down brackets of the Saturn 1B? These are the ones attached to the trailing edge of the fins.

David Weeks drawings?

I seem to recall a fin and bracket on display at the museum in Hutchinson Kansas, but I do not have any travels to that area to check.

Thanks.

Bill

Here's some screen snips from a study I downloaded from the NASASpaceFlight.com "historical" forum of Chrysler drawings of the Saturn IB, available off the internet.

I need to do a study summary of these sometimes soon.

Later and hope this helps! OL J R :)

This the real 1B fin that's on display at the KS Cosmosphere. I took this photo in 2011 and it's the only photo I have of it.

The brackets can be seen, but only from the side.

I was interested in the hold-down a few months ago, since it is so often left off. Never found any dimensions, but there are pretty good photos on the line. I took the best measures I could off of those and modeled it. Unfortunately that's in OpenSCAD, so you can't really take dimensions off the model, they're embedded in the code.

...and sigh, looking at it again I see a bunch of corrections and additions it needs.

Thanks, guys.

Nobody has the David Weeks drawings? I think I'll take a chance on them.

Ok, I did all my todo items, and tweaked a bunch of stuff; view of the results attached.

While I can't go there and make measurements, what I do, after getting basic measurements, is to position the 3D view to match the photograph. Then I can size and position the details to match. TLAR method = That Looks About Right. Until someone goes and measures the diameters and positions of the rivets, it works pretty well.

Next, I intend to split the components of the fin, so that it can be 3D printed.

I have the Weeks drawings, and they show very little detail or measurements of the hold-down.

Attached are the two best photos I have that show the hold-downs. They are two different subjects, and offhand, I don't know where they are. Note that they have different endcaps on the horizontal hold-down bar. I've chosen to model the rectangular end cap, but it's an easy change to do the other one.

Hope this helps... images from the Saturn IB on display at KSC (horizontal) and the others are from the Saturn IB display on I-65 just south of the Alabama/Tennesee border (rest area).

Later! OL J R :)
