5/3/2008 JMRC Launch Photos

The launch went on despite high winds. I made my first hybrid flight using my NCR Tempest converted also for DD. Photos are located HERE.

Thanks for sharing, Buzz. Nice pics. Congrats on your successful flight. Good work!

Thanks guys. I have to say I'm sold on hybrids, in particular Skyrippers. Super easy to put together and you can't beat the cost per flight. I bought a 38/400 case at our JMRC Winter party auction last year and plan to use it in my rebuilt Thoy Falcon next month. An I motor for;

$12 reload + $5 NOS.... sheesh :D

Very nice pics!

The hybrid setup you are referencing sounds very cool. I don't know anything about them. Where would be a good place to get some information?

A good place to start is Todd's documents page. It has link to other resources as well. The downside of hybrids is the GSE cost. It helps a ton if you fly with a club that has it's own equipment.

Very cool! Thanks for the Sky Ripper Systems link. There's a ton of great information there.

It's way beyond my capability at this point, but very cool none the less.

The easy part is the motor. To be honest, if you can assemble a brand A reload you can put together a Skyripper. The GSE is a bit complicated, but thats where flying with a club that has the gear is a huge plus. Converting built kits is as easy as drilling a hole. Yea you have to fly dual deploy, but thats as much or more fun than flying hybrids. I'm converting all of my old HPR kits to dual deploy. It's so nice to have the main come out at 400'. :)
