Roy,

What was the thickness, just in case someone else is wondering?

rtuinila 03-08-2015 03:34 PM

The thickness of the balsa sheet was 1/16"

The Pegasus was one of very few Estes rockets that used 1/16" fin stock.
All of the others with two exceptions are mini-brutes as well.
The only two rockets I know of using 18mm power and 1/16" fin stock are the Astron Streak and the Astron Sprint.

Actually, several of the orignal K series rockets used 1/16" fin stock....

K-08 Astron Sky Hook
K-14 Astron Drifter
K-18 Astron X-Ray
K-20 Mars Snooper
K-25 Astron Gyroc
K-31 Starblazer (original Series III engine version)

I am sure there were others.

The current Wizard (1292) is an 18mm motor model which has 1/16th thick fins.

Wow.
I thought all of those used 3/32".

Then there's the Estes Aerospace Club (EAC) Viper that had 1/16" thick fins too.

I seem to remember that there are 1/16" thick fins on the Estes Courier (1911), and as detail parts on the Photon Probe as well.

Come to think of it, the Ninja and the Zinger were both 18mm and used 1/16" stock also...not that I'd be interested in those runts other than for a fire-and-forget near-orbital launch on something like an Aerotech D10 or D21...
