I want to rebuild this poor old bird, and set it up for D power....BUT!.....
Would ANYONE out there have a 2"id X 16" body tube they would sell me? I simply dont know what the Part # would be for this body tube......im sure i could make up a motor mount out of stuff, and i can trace and copy the fins......im just in dire need of a new body tube to get this lil project started.......! Many Thanks! Bill Oh, its an OLD ESTES kit....

It is an ST-20 2.04" tube.
Just PM me your address. I have a bunch I got from erockets by mistake.

According to JimZ's site the tube is 16.025" long.

BTW, I have decals for it too.

Bill, from your photos the tube appears to be in good shape. What's wrong with it?

Just measured mine and the body tube came out at a hairsbreadth under 16" long.

I've also responded to your post over on TRF .

According to RocketReviews the Mercury Redstone (which this rocket shares some common elements) is underpowered.

I'm increasing mine (both the MR and the Jupiter-C) from a 18mm to a 24mm rocket to increase my options out on the field.

I suspect the same is what the OP has in mind as well.

Pointy Side Up!

Well it originally called for a C5-3, but it will fly just fine on a C6-3 (both the MR and the Jupiter-C). I definitely do not fly mine on windy days but I've never thought of either one as "underpowered".

You will have to add nose weight if you use a 24mm engine though. The fins are oversize from scale but still pretty small.

Good ideas... Nose weight, and perhaps some of those Dr. Zooch-like "flame fins".

One idea I came upon for the MR was to create a clear wrap (perhaps the plastic from collared shirt packaging) to go around the tower when flying the rocket and give it some additional strength (or keep the fragments together should it break).

Thanks guys for ALL THE INPUT AND HELP!!! Looks like i will be able to rebuild the J-C!!!! :) :)
Sandman you have a PM!!! :) :) :)
Ive got an Estes 18mm Redstone set up for D power, and with just a little bit of nose weight, it flies GREAT on Ds!! Hopefully th J-C might do the same!!
Mojo, i probably could use the BT, but i think things would go alot nicer if i could get a new one!
