I’ve wanted to try the Tough Coat ever since John Boren mentioned it. But I had bought a lot of the Rustoleum Filler/Primer on sale via walmart.com, a real convenience, since orders ship to any store free. My favorite primer is Duplicolor primer, but it’s really expensive.
Since you are a Tamiya fan, try their Fluorescent Red sometime. It’s very glossy, unlike any fluorescent paint I’ve ever used. I’m also a fan of their surface primer, great on plastics since it does not have fillers that would dull details. Also enables lacquers to be used over plastic without fear of crazing.
