I gave both options much consideration. I studied Jeffy Jeep's build thread regarding making the ML serviceable. In the end I decided to take the gamble and build without modifications and just with Semroc's rubber bands. I noticed they include 2 bands for each leg, I assume the redundancy will make it last longer than the old Estes.. time will tell!

I'm considering building Tango Papa's upscale version someday.. I think that one is serviceable.
I saw it at a launch last year, looked really nice!
