I usually use 90% Isopropyl alcohol from the drugstore to thin for the airbrush. The el-cheapo water based acrylics from Michaels and Hobby Lobby even behave well with the alcohol thinner.
For cleanup plain old Windex right out of the bottle works great. Fill the cup and spray it out . Windex can also be used for stripper for paint jobs gone wrong.
