Can't you use some filler on the upper body tube to cover the scar? Thin FNF works for this as well as Squadron White Putty which your local hobby store or craft store should have. It comes in a small tube. That is the stuff you use on plastic models to fill seams with. It also works just fine on the paper tubes or balsa.
