Al,
Measurement from my built up Scorpius clone kit from PDR......
Distance from tube ends is 5.55 inches. Subtract 1/2" for AR5-20s (1/4" each) gives a length of 5.05" for the dowels. Attached photo shows dowels and you can use the tubes for reference for scale.
