New Malemute vehicle
Hello All,
A new single-stage sounding rocket, which uses the Improved Malemute rocket motor, has been developed and successfully test-flown twice by the DLR (the German space agency) at Norway's Andøya Space Center (see:
http://andoyaspace.no/?p=2461
and
http://andoyaspace.no/?p=2489
), reaching altitudes of about 115 kilometers. The new vehicle has three composite fins, and its striking red paint scheme--as well as its tapered boat tail--would make for an eye-catching and low-drag flying scale model. Also:
The Andøya Space Center will be the launch site for SMILE ("Small Innovative Launcher for Europe," see:
http://andoyaspace.no/?p=2282
,

, and

), a launch vehicle for lofting CubeSats and nanosats into orbit.
