Here is my Viper waiting for Glossy White. I used 3 coats of balsa sealer, 1 coat of thick grey primer, sanded that down, sprayed a little more grey primer and sanded down. Then one coat of white primer. I did all this in one day. This am I wet sanded the white primer for a smooth surface for my Glossy white.

I didn't use the old Krylon much. I used the Rustoleum Painters Touch and really liked it, but it's not available around these parts anymore. I switched to the new Krylon which I immediately found sucks big time.

After working with the new Krylon paint I've come to an uneasy truce with it. I find that I can get a good finish as long as I resign myself to the fact that I need to put on multiple very thin coats. You just can't put the paint on heavy because it will run for sure. On the plus side I have put on multiple coats in a very short period of time without any adverse affects.

IMHO, nothing beats tamiya lacquers, they are fast drying (note, I didn't say fast curing) and they can be buffed to a high gloss finish after it has finished curing
I try and avoid testors enamel paints because, 1: the clearcoat yellows over time 2:enamel never really dries, and 3: tamiya spray cans have superior nozzles

The Testors LACQUERS are really nice and I can't wait to paint some more rockets with them

Thanks! That model was built as a high altitude booster for my gum camera. It was painted with a gloss white old Krylon base, then Testors "Inca Gold". The black fins were painted with Tamiya Gloss Black. After the decals were applied the model was clearcoated with Tamiya Gloss Clear. All paints were compatible with one another as applied. The model is 30mm in diameter and has flown twice, once with a D12-0 staged to a E9-6, then with a D12-0 to a E9-8.

I'm at work so I can't post any more pictures.

I forgot all about testors one shot lacquers, they aren't really one shot as advertised, but when used with light thin applications, they can compete with a rocket painted with Tamiya lacquers

It's a crap shoot now days because you can use paints together in the same line and have problems. I miss the old days when you looked at a can and you knew it was going to work with the same type of paint.
