Anybody see a pattern building here? The Centuri Little Joe II referenced in this thread (https://www.ebay.com/itm/225990416279) went for $171.38. The Centuri Saturn 1b referenced in this thread (https://www.ebay.com/itm/375236990417) went for approximately double that at $355.00. The Centuri Saturn V referenced in this thread (https://www.ebay.com/itm/315143094911?autorefresh=true) went for double that at $710.00! The Centuri Super Scale kits are definitely on a roll!

In addition, the Cox RTF Little Joe II that Matt Steele has listed is already at $305.00 with less than five more days to go: https://www.ebay.com/itm/2564096249...d=&toolid=10050

It will be interesting to see how high it will go, both literally and figuratively!

The box says, "Climbs to 1400 feet!", but, will it ever make it out of the box, or will it make it to $1400, approximately double what the Centuri Saturn V sold for?
Guess we will have to wait and see! Do we need a drum roll for this little, Little Joe II, too?

Looks like Matt's listing for the Cox LJII has the scale a "little" off. It should be 1/125 scale instead of 1/100 scale. See attached photo for comparison of Cox 1/125th scale LJII on the left vs. Centuri 1/100th scale LJII on the right for reference. The Cox 1/125th scale LJII is only 8 1/2 inches tall, while the Centuri 1/100th scale LJII is 10 1/2 inches tall.

Kind regards,
Jeff Jenkins

Someone fell out of the STUPID TREE in paying $710.00 for a Centuri Saturn V
I wouldn't pay even close to that for a boxed mint Enerjet Athena with a boxed F67 engine.

There seems to be a surprising difference between the prices of the Centuri Super Scale kits and this nice 1/45th scale Estes Apollo Little Joe II kit #7227, which recently went for as low as $25 for a mint in box kit two months ago: https://www.ebay.com/itm/1262341402...ABk9SR5KE2LS1Yw

Estes did a nice job on the kit. They even put a nice touch by honoring the 1/45th scale Centuri Apollo Little Joe II with a photo of the kit on the side of the box.

Yes, though the Estes kit was getting +/- $100 not that long ago. A lot depends on timing and who is looking. There is a partially built Centuri kit still sitting at $175, and probably will continue to not move.

Yes, that one has been there for several months now and like you say, will probably continue to sit there at that price. The core tube and centering rings have been installed backwards by the previous builder, so anyone getting it will have to cut or Dremel all that stuff out (without damaging the main tube and chrome wrap, which will be a bit tricky). Complete and unbuilt Centuri Little Joe IIs have been going for around that price in more recent years, so why plunk down that kind of money for someone elses boo-boo.

Well, we know the 1/45th scale Centuri Apollo Little Joe II was one of our good friend George Gassaway's favorites, as well as the 1/100th scale Centuri Apollo Little Joe II, which was the sixth model rocket he ever built and his first scale model rocket: https://georgesrockets.com/GRP/Scale/DATA/LJoeKits.htm

As George put it, "The Centuri Little Joe-II kits were legendary."

George enjoyed not only the Centuri Super Scale Apollo Little Joe II kits, but he also enjoyed all sizes and all variations of the Little Joe IIs.

George did much good for our hobby and also did much to promote modeling of the Apollo Little Joe II kits. George Gassaway became a subject matter expert on the Little Joe II in all of its varieties, and together with Tom Beach, gathered and produced some excellent models, excellent articles, and excellent scale reference data: https://georgesrockets.com/GRP/Scale/DATA/Article.htm , https://georgesrockets.com/GRP/Scale/DATA/LJoeMain.htm

Sadly, George Gassaway passed away on May 22, 2023, from pancreatic cancer. May God rest his soul. George will be greatly missed. I'm thankful to have met George Gassaway in person twice. Once in Huntsville, Alabama, for NARCON 1988, and in Pueblo, Colorado, for NARAM 60 in 2018, at the Rocketeer Reunion and Festival. George and I were able to spend several hours together over lunch, in great conversation and sharing many good model rocket memories.

Like George Gassaway, Tom Beach is also a huge fan of the 1/45th scale Centuri Apollo Little Joe II KS-8 kit. Tom Beach is a fantastic model rocketeer, as well, and he collaborated with George to help produce much of the fabulous data we now have. I would like to give a giant, "Thank you!", to George, to Tom, and also to Estes Industries and to many others (including Centuri Engineering Company, of course!) for helping to provide and continue the legacy of this fine scale model! I'm thankful to also have had the privilege of meeting and chatting with Tom Beach at NARAM 60 in Pueblo, Colorado, as well!

Here's a link to some of Tom Beach's Little Joes: https://georgesrockets.com/GRP/Scale/DATA/Tom.htm

Oh, and here's a link to the Centuri Apollo Little Joe II historical brochure included with the 1/45th scale Centuri LJII KS-8 kit and also included with the 1/45th scale Estes Apollo Little Joe II kit #7227: https://georgesrockets.com/GRP/Scal...JoeBrochure.pdf

FYI. Scott Hansen has kindly posted the kit instructions (long before now) for the 1/45th scale Centuri Apollo Little Joe II KS-8 kit on the Ye Olde Rocket Plans site for us all to enjoy: https://plans.rocketshoppe.com/cent...S-8/cenKS-8.htm
Scott also has an alternative link included on the Ye Olde Rocket Plans site link for the Centuri Apollo Little Joe II historical brochure included with the 1/45th scale Centuri LJII KS-8 kit and also included with the 1/45th scale Estes Apollo Little Joe II kit #7227: https://plans.rocketshoppe.com/pubs...orical_Data.pdf (Note: This link includes the Scale Details Configuration full sheet. The other links for the historical brochure have the Scale Details Configuration sheet split into two sheets.)

Here is one more alternative link at JimZ (https://www.spacemodeling.org/jimz/) for the Centuri Apollo Little Joe II historical brochure included with the 1/45th scale Centuri LJII KS-8 kit and also included with the 1/45th scale Estes Apollo Little Joe II kit #7227: https://www.spacemodeling.org/jimz/manuals/ip-4.pdf

A download of the 1/45th scale Estes Apollo Little Joe II kit #7227 instructions patterned after the 1/45th scale Centuri LJII KS-8 kit can be found here: https://www.spacemodeling.org/jimz/...TTLE_JOE_II.pdf

A nice layout of the 1/45th scale Estes LJII kit #7227 kit parts is attached here to compare with the 1/45th scale Centuri LJII KS-8 kit parts and the 1/100th scale Centuri LJII KS-9 kit parts side by side (although the parts are somewhat mixed between the larger and the smaller Centuri LJIIs in this second photo. Perhaps someone on here can add better photos of the Centuri kit parts to help differentiate them more clearly.)
