Packaging Variations?
In a recent lot purchase on Ebay, I found something odd. In a sealed bag, I found all the tube parts and nose cone from an Estes Executioner kit, in a sealed bag. No fins, no centering rings, no instructions, 'chute, shock cord, etc, etc, etc. Did Estes at one time pack these parts in a bag, within a bag? Seems pointless to do so, but here I have half of an Executioner, in a sealed bag - strange.

How do you know it was an Executioner? Did it have the decal sheet, or is the Executioner's parts "pick" unique?

I'm assuming it is, the parts are all consistent with the Executioner. Is there something else it could be?

That said, I have noticed that, over the years, they have kitted lots of subassemblies into separate bags. For example, all, or most of, the motor mount pieces would be in a small bag together. So I too am wondering if the two tubes and nosecone weren't bagged together, at the factory, inside the kit bag. Conversely, the large pieces are often loose in the outer bag. So I can't say for sure; I wouldn't bet the house on this being factory original packaging Doug .

Imagine the logistics required to make paper tubes in Ohio and nose cones in California, ship it all to China for packaging and ship it back to USA for distribution. Imagine the labor and regulation differential sufficient to justify all of that.

I'm not sure I understand how this explains my question, but it's fun to think about!

It surely does. It must just be a fluke.

Since the rest of the parts were nowhere to be found in the big box of awesome I bought, I think it needs to go into an upscale - maybe an Eliminator.
