Looks great !
The first Mars Lander I built in the mid-80's was a pristine "Type I" bagged and unopened kit. Think I still have the facecard from the bag.

Default Thank You

Just wanted to say thanks for all the kind words regarding the site. Many have emailed me and made their favorable opinions known. Its a great feeling to see the community enjoying this resource.

I'm fast at work completing the remaing work. I'll post the progress here, so make sure you are checking regularly as to the sites progress. I'll be adding about two dozen more kit photos in the coming weeks.

Once again, thank you for the kind words.

Eric

I dont want to cause you any grief but did you get permission from Estes to use that logo on a for profit enterprise?

Hobbico, a large competitor in the world of model aircraft, purchased Estes-COX in January 2010 for an undisclosed sum. Hobbico, based out of Champagne, Illinois, is 100 percent employee-owned and includes subsidiaries Revell-United Model, Great Planes Model Distributors and Tower Hobbies.

It's not likely that your comments will cause me grief. I'm way above that. I am however, a bit perplexed.

It's a website with over 1,200 hours devoted to K-kit research. Its not a "for profit enterprise" as you suggest. I couldn't find anything that said the old logo and astron graphic are restricted from usage. Its Americana on a mug or mouse pad.

I can assure you this is not for profit. It's done out of the love of k-kits. However, if it will relieve your concern, I'll make you this promise: If someone has me legally stop offering the items, I will comply.

Now, do you have any comments regarding the actual content of the site? You couldnt possibly have come here to nit pick over my offerings, could you?

Some people always look for the opportunity to play cop, shipment cop, or trademark/patent attorney.
Bout as wanted and needed as a vice raid on a college kegger. NOT AT ALL.

I just had a very long talk with both Christine and Mary Roberts at Estes.

Basically none of this violates the "spirit" of copyrights. Mary agrees that regardless of how their attorneys want to justify their paycheck this site and my site only add to Estes' business.

So it has been discussed with Estes/Hobbico and they are fine with it.

The site is great!

Thanks to ejh64 for an excellent resource for vintage rocket collectors everywhere. I do believe I will take advantage of the opportunity to acquire some Estes 'swag' as a token of my appreciation for all the hard work undertaken to create this fine website!

Different situation, Mike.

So good of you to care so much about something that is none of your business! As usual...

Thats fine but there is no reason to draw Hobbicos attention to anyone again. They have calmed down about the cloning stuff. No need to rattle their cage.

And for the record it is our business, we were contacted about cloning kits as were several others.
