Question Looking for Citation Red Max (MK-2) plans

JimZ has the DRM (651), and Estes has the DBRM (1977), MDRM (9705), and the Mini Max (2445) instructions, but I can't turn up the original Citation Series Red Max (MK-2) plans from 1971 (or about).

I use the name "Red Max" as that is what the 1971 Estes Citation Catalog had it listed as See the ninfinger's site for more.

Oh, I've also read that someone's variant of the DRM came with a different body tube length than what was posted in the Estes Kit guide (the BT-60HE at 8.5" long). I'd like to verify that. So if you have any (or all) of the BT-60 versions, could you measure your body tubes?

Can anyone help here?

Thanks!
Jim

Not much help, but I seen one on ebay earlier this week.
Decent price too.
Don't know if I put it on my watch list or not.
I'll see if I can find it, not that, that would help you though.
Best I can do on this one.

Look at the 5rd pic, is this the one?

K'Tesh, first I see the Red Max is in the 1973 catalog.
lists it as KC-2.
You could send JumJet a PM. On the interview this week on the Rocket Show, he mentioned they have filing cabinets full of documents. He maybe can email the plans to you.
Just a thought.

Thanks for the heads up.... However, it's not a Citation series RM (I'm not sure about the facecard). For me, the tell is in the nosecone. That is a blow molded nosecone, and not the earlier injection molded nosecone (which I believe came in black for the Citation series).

That's just a regular 0651 kit. He's looking for the original version with injection nose cone that was boxed for retail sales.

Edit: The original Citation kits had their own mini-catalog and had the MK-x numbers, where they later had the KC-x numbers in the regular catalog. The Citation Patriot and DRM both used the heavy black injection molded PNC-60AH, which later changed to a blow molded version.

The box was similar to this Citation Patriot kit.

Thanks for the info tbzep!

I haven't seen many Citation series rockets in the box. So, I appreciate all the info I can get on them.

Any chance you could scan the Patriot's instructions?

That wasn't my kit, just an old eBay image. However, YORS has scans of the Citation Starship Vega and BOMARC.

Oh yeah... I've had that for a long time...

I was just looking online for more info on the MK-2, and saw that someone had claimed that they had measured their newer kit and it was something like 8 9/16" instead of the 8 1/2" that the guide you just cited has it as.

Since I'm researching this, I thought I'd try and a version of each of the releases.

Lemme guess... the one that got away.

I love Ebay for research photos. I had a lot of stuff on various kits I was interested in, and lost it with the HD crash. I've now got an external HD to back up on, and am trying to share my research more. Looks like I'll need to do a better job of noting other info streams too.

I send JumpJet a PM, I think that would be your best bet.
I've got a couple really old black nose cones in my stash.
I'll dig them out and see what they are.
