FSI used to make tube on tip rocket kits with angle cut tubes (ask Pratt), so they had a way to do that in mass quantity.

I agree it would be nice if the "new" Quest motors would fit, but being 28mm, they really are set-up for mounts of a standard 29mm size. At some point a compromise has to be set on style and construction of a kit. The new Shrox/Apogee kit is a beauty and that compromise looks like a winner to me and the size is "just right" in my book.

Heck, Semroc has a DOWNSCALE Centuri Astro-1 with a 13mm mount!

The D12-5 was used in the simulation runs, but it should have been the D12-3. Even so, the problem isn't the time delay. It's the static margin. With no engine loaded, the model only has a margin of 1.49. When you add the D12-3, it falls to 0.69, which is below the minimum of 1.00 (one body tube diameter between the CG and the CP).

The point is this, if the static margin is that low on just a D12, how low will it be on the larger engines? What this brings up is a question of how accurate the RockSim calculations are, since it's obvious Apogee and Shrox have working prototypes of this design.

Yeah I saw a prototype on my visit to Apogee Components last summer, Tim showed it to me himself. VERY neat kit. Told me it flew like a bat outta a warm place. Looked really cool, even nekkid...

Sounds like maybe some noseweight wasn't accounted for in the rocksim file or something....

Later! OL JR

Just got mine the other day. Looks great, at least in the bag!
Hope to get to it real soon. If it flies as well as the Mig SHX does, it will be a hit with me and will travel to the field most every time I go!
Douglas Shrox and Tim sure do make a great team! Keep 'em coming!

I'm in the process of building my Lexxjet now. Good kit so far, can't wait to fly her.
