I finished my Mini HoJo today. How about this U.S. ARMY decal instead?

Those look great! Are those vinyl letters? With the stencil marks on them, that would be one PITA to do with waterslides.

Here's my HoJo, nice kit from Estes. I decided to leave the US Military decal as provided. I figured it would be fun having everyone ask why?

Kit was great, decal edges just about disappeared under the clear coat.

Oh, no...when John Boren posted here on YORF regarding the copyright/trademark legal issues associated with including "U.S. Army" lettering decals in scale kits (there aren't any legal issues with it, as "U.S. Army" isn't the Army's official "star-and-square-with-lettering logo,"

The above sentence was part of a discussion last year. I truly was hoping the above statement was true.

Last year there was some discussion on why Estes placed US Military on the side of the Mini Honest John instead of U.S. ARMY on the model like the real one had!

Well I have another scale model I wish to make for 2013 that just happens to have U.S. ARMY on it just like the Honest John did. So again we investigated the issue of getting this placed on the model. We made direct contact with the ARMY person responsible with issuing permission for its use and yes we can use it if we are willing to spend enough money each year that I could buy a really nice brand new car with. So I am either going to find a different color scheme for the model that does not contain the words U.S. ARMY or we will simply put U.S. MILITARY on the side, just like we did before. I’m sure the decal suppliers out there will be more then happy to provide you with this decal when the time comes. So if and when this new model makes it to market next year, please remember sometimes we can’t always deco a model the correct way because it’s simply not cost effective to do so.

Do the plastic model companies have to do this? Has anyone made contact with one? I thought they got enough of our tax dollars.
