Default Mike Dorffler Signed Box Cineroc Ebay

For those who may be interested.....

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...em=111090092701

Box not in the best of shape and the nosecone has a crack in it where the screw eye was mounted for one of the optional parachute rigging methods.

I don't think the lister knew who Mike was.....I informed them that Mike's signature on the box was not just any old name.

I wonder who 'Eric' might have been and just how long ago Mike gifted this Cineroc to him.....?

Heh, his description says "somebody" wrote on the side of the box.

Sounds to me like the seller doesn't deserve to know who Mike was.

Ouch!
You rocketeers are SO mean spirited and SO quick to judge!

I do know who Mr. Dorffler was, I had correspondence with him many years ago about Cinerocs. But since I didn't see him sign the box, I can't say for 100% certainty that he signed it.
Hmmm... Be nice people; it's in everyone's best interest...
Daniel

P.S. Thank you Earl for the note/info you sent me.

I was being nice. Lots of people sell stuff from estates and don't know the history of rocketry. Too bad you didn't let YORF members know you had it up for auction and maybe check on that signature....that would have been nice, and might have even made the kit worth a little more.

Well, not knowing who the ebay lister was, I decided to post the listing here and let YORFers decide for themselves whether the signature was authentic.

Based on my somewhat sketchy memory of Mike's handwriting, it looked authentic to me, but at the same time too, I could understand, as a lister, not wanting to make a resounding endorsement that he had, in fact, signed the box if it had not been witnessed in person or come with some additional 'verification' documents to that degree.

I suspect though that any real Cineroc fan would certainly know who Mike was and would not need to be informed directly of that fact.

That's not my point. The seller/member evidently thinks I'm a jerk. I posted that the nice thing to do would have been to give YORF a head's up about the potential auction, instead of deciding to show up after the auction. I find it very interesting that several members make much more rude comments about people than I did, and never get called out on it.

That wasn't my point, Earl, and your posts had nothing to do with my comment. However, I'll leave it be.

Nope, I don't think you're a jerk. I just would like things to be kept civil. There's too much mud-slinging on these forums.
And Earl was nice enough to give the heads up with plenty of time left on the auction... Thank you Earl.
I don't think it proper to use these forums to advertise one's ebay auctions; but that's just me. I won't be doing that; just a personal choice of mine.
Have a good night everybody...
Daniel
