The funny thing is that now APCP is no longer regulated, and it was not the outlaws that changed that situation. It was deliberate work by mainstream TRA/NRA. Don't get me wrong, I dig(ged) his attitude, but have to say that for once, the legal system kinda worked as far as APCP being de-regulated (if that's what it should be called). |

I just liked the fact that he thumbed his nose at not only the regulatory authorities as well as certification authorities, both of which I see as having no useful place in hobby rocketry. Neither should be required any more than an authority certifying R/C glow engine powerplants.

Interesting story about Frank...
I was at a LDRS back in the 90's and Frank was there flying his motors in all metal rockets. After the end of flying day, he had a few fuel grains left over and decided to entertain us by lighting them on fire ... whoosh a huge dense cloud of burnt propellant wafted across the prep area ... right into Bill Colburn's (SORAC Rocket) camp... Bill was PISSED and started cursing at Frank ... Frank apologized and we were all laughing ... it know it sounds weird but it was because it was like Frank was acting like a child and got busted ... I guess you had to be there. I made the mistake of first introducing myself to Frank in the early 1990's by mentioning another rocketeer's name who I won't and never will mention again... if I had that time to do over again, I would have just left his name off as it made Frank very angry and visibly upset. Later I explained my position on the matter and we then got along in a friendly manner. Jonathan |
