I started this project quite a while ago after taking another quite a while to decide which fin pattern I was going to go with. I like the way it came out except for the decals. I tried redrawing a set myself and from ten feet it looks awesome. Get any closer and I'll be forced to chop block you. Thanks Earl. I'm hoping to fly this one this weekend.

Great--she looks like Rick (then Ricky) Piester's Akela-1 in the "Boy's Life" (or is it "Boys' Life"? - Pedro their mail burro would know) article back in 1972 or 1973! Also, Sandman has exact duplicates of the Akela-1 decals (and a version that reads "Viking" instead, if memory serves).

Default Cub Scout launch pad

Sorry to revive an old (but really cool) thread, but with all these Cub Scout Akela rockets, I thought it would be appropriate to share a picture of our Cub Scout launch pad, our scouts worked together to help build it. It has 5 standard launch rods for each of the Cub Scout ranks, Bobcat, Tiger, Wolf, Bear, Webelos, each with its own badge replica, a metal hiking stick medallion, and a large Arrow of Light across the front for the final rank before advancing to Boy Scouts.

That's very cool, Glen! The decorations are a great addition.

That's the coolest launch rack paint/decor scheme I've ever seen!
